Job description

Why Mimo?

Mimo empowers everyone to create software.

Whether someone is learning to code for the first time or using AI-powered features to bring an idea to life: we make software creation accessible, intuitive, and joyful for more than 40 million learners around the world.

We’re a small, remote-first team with a big mission and a high bar. We work transparently, share context openly, and rely on clarity and ownership to move fast. We challenge each other, experiment boldly, and push the boundaries of what learning and creating with code can become.

If you’re excited to make software creation accessible, you’ll have a real impact at Mimo.

Join us and help build the tools that empower millions.

About your team

You’ll join a tight-knit, cross-functional product team that cares deeply about building a world-class learning experience. As our Senior Android Developer, you’ll shape the Mimo app’s performance, craft engaging learning journeys, and drive the AI-powered features that make software creation accessible to millions.

Tech Stack

Our tech stack includes an Android app built with Kotlin, including Coroutines and Flow, following the MVVM/MVI design pattern and a clean-architecture approach.

What you’ll be doing

  • You build with Kotlin. You design, develop, and ship major user-facing features alongside product, design, and engineering.

  • You build modern UIs. You use declarative frameworks like Jetpack Compose to craft smooth, responsive interfaces.

  • You care about performance. You spot bottlenecks, fix bugs, and ship improvements that make Android apps feel fast and reliable.

  • You automate everything. You use AI tools like Claude Code to speed up your work wherever applicable.

You’ll thrive in this role if

  • You’re a seasoned developer. You have 5+ years of experience as a mobile developer, shipping features for real-time, large-scale, consumer-facing apps using Kotlin.

  • You have a bias for action. You move fast, solve problems when you see them, and learn by doing including learning from mistakes rather than overthinking.

  • You care about quality and detail. You write high-quality code, follow best practices, and make thoughtful trade-offs with the user experience in mind.

  • You care about your ownership. You solve problems end to end and follow through on what you start.

  • You're excited about AI. You’re driven by its potential to reshape how software is built and want to help people create more with it.

  • We love working async. We trust you to set your schedule and do your best work.

Our global perks and benefits

  • Remote-first, always. Work from anywhere with a home-office budget to set yourself up.

  • Paid time off. You’ll get 25 vacation days plus local public holidays and paid sick leave.

  • Menstrual leave. Up to 2 paid days off per month to care for your health when needed.

  • Team retreats and virtual fun. Join us for retreats twice a year and remote-friendly activities like hack weeks and coffee breaks.

  • Invest in your growth. You’ll have a €1,000 yearly budget for courses, books, or anything that helps you grow.

  • Transparent compensation. Your salary starts at €74k gross annually and increases by 5% every year. No questions asked.

  • Own what you build. Help shape a world-class product and share in its success with equity (phantom stock).

Our 4-step hiring process, in a nutshell

  1. Intro chat

You’ll start with a quick video call with a member of the People team to get to know each other.

  2. Take-home challenge

You’ll receive a challenge to complete on your own time. No pressure, no deadline.

  3. Technical interview

You’ll walk our hiring manager through your thinking and show your skills.
